Technical Lead – End-to-End Aggregation Platform (m/f/d)
utilize brings the flexibility potential of mid-sized companies’ grid connections to the electricity market. Our platform connects battery storage and other distributed assets with the energy markets and trades their flexibility automatically. You make sure it all runs reliably, securely and at scale.
Apply nowYour role
You lead the technology behind our end-to-end aggregation platform – from the edge on customer sites all the way to the cloud.
This is not a pure management role: you write code yourself, make architecture decisions and own the responsibility for keeping our platform reliable, scalable and secure. Over time, you build and lead the development team.
What you’ll drive
- Architecture: You own the platform end to end – protocols, data flows and security concepts from the edge to the market interface.
- Development: You build across the entire stack yourself – embedded/edge, backend and interfaces to the energy markets.
- Operations: You keep the platform running around the clock – with monitoring, alerting and well-designed failover strategies.
- Roadmap: You help shape and prioritise the technical roadmap.
- Customer focus: Together with product and sales, you turn customer requirements into technical solutions.
- Team: You build the development team and, over time, lead it.
What you bring
- Several years of software development experience – with proven ownership of a product or platform in production
- A strong background in at least two of these areas: embedded/IoT, backend development, cloud infrastructure, networking
- A real sense of ownership: you don’t wait for instructions – you find problems and solve them
- An independent, structured way of working – especially when things get complex
Nice to have
- Experience with edge computing, VPN technologies or industrial control systems
- Exposure to the energy sector: flexibility trading, VPP, BESS, EMS
- First experience building or leading a development team
Our stack
We think cloud-agnostic and deliberately rely on open standards – European cloud providers are a real option for us. You don’t need to know all of it, but you should feel at home in several of these areas in production environments.
- Cloud
- Production experience with at least one cloud provider – e.g. STACKIT, IONOS, UpCloud or AWS: compute, managed databases, object storage, serverless
- Infrastructure as code
- Terraform – modules, state management, pipeline deployment
- Monitoring
- Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, alerting, failover strategies
- IoT & edge
- Device management, MQTT, Modbus/TCP, remote maintenance of edge devices
- Security
- WireGuard VPN, TLS/mTLS, certificate management, zero trust
- Containers
- Docker, container orchestration (e.g. Kubernetes), service discovery
- Backend
- Python/Django – API design, asynchronous processing
- CI/CD
- GitLab pipelines, automated testing, blue/green deployments
What we offer
- Real impact: You build the infrastructure that makes flexibility usable for the energy transition.
- Room to shape: In an early-stage start-up, you define architecture, tools and team culture from the start.
- Short paths: Responsibility from day one – no approval loops across five levels.
- Strong team: Small, ambitious and diverse – with many years of experience in the battery and energy industry.
- Flexibility: Flexible working and fast growth opportunities.
